The ISCIII launches the ‘ISCIII-HEALTH Seal of Excellence’ call to promote research projects endorsed by the EU
We inform you that the application period has opened for a new call by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III “Sello de Excelencia ISCIII-HEALTH” under the Acción Estratégica en Salud 2021-2023, funded by the European funds of the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia.
The ‘Sello de Excelencia ISCIII-HEALTH’ will provide two types of grants:
1) For Spanish research projects that were submitted to calls from the European Research Council (ERC), but which, despite being positively evaluated and considered eligible for funding by this European body, were ultimately not funded for budgetary reasons. In other words, the ‘Sello de Excelencia ISCIII-HEALTH’ call will enable internationally excellent research projects that were unable to receive the aforementioned European funds at the time to finally obtain Spanish funding to go ahead. The grants are intended for projects submitted under the 'Starting Grants', 'Consolidator Grants' and 'Advanced Grants' schemes.
* What is funded:
Three types of projects arising from the “Starting Grants”, “Advanced Grants” and “Consolidator Grants” proposals will be funded which, after having been submitted to the 2020 and/or 2021 ERC calls (ERC-2020-STG, ERC-2020-COG, ERC-2020-ADG, ERC-2021-STG, ERC-2021-COG and/or ERC2021-ADG), passed the second evaluation stage with an A rating in the final report (Step 2 Evaluation Report), but were not funded due to budgetary constraints.
2) For Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), which were once again submitted to the relevant European call and, having obtained the Seal of Excellence certificate, were ultimately not funded for budgetary reasons.
* What is funded:
Projects will be funded which, having been submitted to the “Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions” European Individual Fellowship (hereinafter, MSCA IF) calls under the 2020 Horizon 2020 call, MSCA-IF-2020, and the “Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions” European Postdoctoral Fellowship (hereinafter, MSCA PF) under the 2020 and 2021 Horizon Europe calls, did not achieve a sufficient priority for funding in Europe, but received the Seal of Excellence or Seal of Excellence (SoE, for its initials in English) from the EC at the time of submitting their applications. These are proposals that received a favourable evaluation of 85 points or more, but were not funded due to budgetary constraints and whose host institution is located in Spain.
The period for preparing and submitting applications and the remaining necessary documentation for the two actions covered by this call begins on 21 October 2022 and ends at 15:00, mainland Spain time, on 15 November 2022. Applicants must send their application to the foundation by 8 November 2022, together with the application form for evaluation, for assessment by the Research Committee.
