The IiSGM organises a comprehensive programme of activities during Science Week
Last November, as part of Science and Innovation Week, the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Gregorio Marañón (IiSGM) held a comprehensive programme, including courses and workshops, as well as an educational itinerary and an excursion. This was a science outreach and citizen participation event organised by the Comunidad de Madrid through the Fundación para el Conocimiento madri+d.
The activities began with 'Nanotechnology: when small is truly big', an informative talk about its impact on everyday life, with examples such as the development of vaccines against COVID-19, which took place in the assembly hall of the Hospital Oncológico y de Terapias Avanzadas.
The Hospital Materno-Infantil Gregorio Marañón hosted the workshop 'The brain: ¿What does the image tell us?', with the aim of introducing attendees to the fascinating world of biomedical imaging.
Visits to the biology and biomedicine laboratories of the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Gregorio Marañón were also held, where IiSGM researchers carry out their daily work and explained the use of the necessary equipment and various lines of research. The programme concluded with a talk on the use of 3D imaging using transparent organs and microscopy.
