Presentation of the Oncological Operating Room with Navigation System

Several researchers and doctors at our hospital have developed and put into operation the world’s first oncology operating theatre with a navigation system. This real-time image-guided system will make it possible to increase the safety of the intraoperative radiotherapy treatments carried out at our hospital by improving the precision and efficiency of radiation during cancer operations without damaging healthy tissue.

This innovative system has been developed by researchers from the Medical Imaging Laboratory and the Oncology Department, in collaboration with the company GMV and the Carlos III University of Madrid.

The presentation ceremony will take place next 17 December at 11 am, in the Assembly Hall of the Oncology Pavilion.
